This forest service cabin packs a lot of charm into a small footprint

We love lakefront cottages nestled within neighbourly communities, but there’s something so enticing about a retreat that’s in the middle of the woods. This forest service cabin, located in Twin Bridges, California, is surrounded by mature trees, rivers, and hiking trails—not neighbours.

What we love most about this cabin though, is its charming, no frills aesthetic. The 500-square-foot cabin consists of a wood-clad main living room, two bedrooms, a petite kitchen, and a loft space for storage or a small guest room. And although there’s electricity and running water, the cabin truly does feel like a rustic getaway.
